Topic I choose - EMPATHY
What is empathy?
→Empathy is a ability to Sense or understand another person's thoughts or emotions in a particular situation for their point of view, rather than your own. I choose this topic so that we can respond appropriately to the situation, understand how others feel. When you visit orphanage, old age home, any blind school or see differently abled people appreciating the little things in life when you see people who don't have them, Do something good for Someone in need.
PROJECT FOCUS-
→I went to a orphanage plus a old age home known as Dharmaveer shambhu Raje Foundation and also called Anand Anath Ashram in Hadapsar. Located in tukai tekdi, Kale Padal Road, Hadapsar. On 10 may 2023 I went their with my mother to know about that place.
This foundation is started by Maruti Aaba Tupe and it has completed 14 years. There are 50-55 children in the orphanage 25 are girls and rest are boys. There are 15 elderly people in the old age home among which 11 are ladies and 4 are gents. The old age home has a are long hallway which is divided for ladies and gents. The Orphanage has 2 rooms for girls and 2 rooms for boys. This foundation also has their own school where the children go at 9:00. The children wake up everyday at 6:00 on their own, get ready, have breakfast at 8:30 and go to school, they come back at 1:00 for lunch. They also have a evening school for 1 hour. The children here are above 2 years old and all age groups. 20-30% of Kids here are orphan and 70-80%. children have their parents but their parents can't afford to send them to school and give them proper shelter and food, So their parents send them here so that they get proper care. They said there is no adoption procedure done in this orphanage, all procedure has to be done in government offices. All the Children do all the work on their own.kitchen work is done by girls chance by chance everyday.boys and girls both help in household chores. They all are a family. They get grocery through donations. They all are very deciplined. There is a water purifier which gives clean cold drinking water. CCTV facility is also available in the orphanage. Health camps are organized every 1 or 2 months. They are assessed for height, weight, BMI, PEFR, chest expansion, visual reaction time, flexibility, core Students ond They helped the strength, etc. On 17th February 2021 post graduate a team of Doctors organized a fitness camp, they helped children understand their physical fitness post COVID -19. The camp ended by distributing gifts to the children as a token of love. The foundation threats children very well and take a lot of care.
A boy named and ganesh grew up here, he is also a orphan and of them. He is currently a teacher in government school, has done diploma in computer. He also teaches the orphanage Kids and look after them now.
A Team called annapurna distributed 512 Kg groceries, pickles, papads, detergent powder, 50 soaps, provided 130 Frooti, butter milk and snacks. 1 induction plate and 3 days cow's fodder to the foundation.
The orphans are happy with what they have, You just need to support children in need with care and protection. After visiting such wonderful places you start appreciating the little things in life when you see people who don't have them. You improve your social growth, Change and become caring, helping and compassionate human beings. You start respecting your relationships, Value things, time, etc. Stop becoming greedy, help others, it teaches social values and under the need to give some time to our society.
What did I donate?
→My family donated powder, oil, tooth brush, tooth paste, nail cutter and comb each packed in a seperate tiffin bag instead of plastic bag so that they can use the tiffin bag to store or carry anything to school. We donated in quantity of 60 each object. We also donated sanitary pads for girls.
The orphanage has a register to Keep record of who donated what on which date, their phone number and signature. On 27 may 2023, we filled the register and gave the things in each child's hand.
MY PERSPECTIVE- I felt empathetic and slowly started to understand their feelings. I learnt importance of social work. I was very happy to see their happy and curious faces when I distributed the bags. They have their own happy and different world. But somewhere I felt that they need More proper and clean rooms, washrooms, Kitchen and Corridoor they would get these things only when we help them. I think we should donate once in a year atleast.

CONCLUSION
Project is about: The concern about the fate of others, the ability to realize another person's insecurities and fears and ability to put oneself in their shoes and willingness to extend a supportive hand makes for empathy.
Indivisuals, communities, countries will not be able to get socially empowered without EMPATHY.
It is also with ability to appreciate, understand and accept other emotions.
